Nick Martin is young professional, a native of Easthampton Massachusetts, with a driving passion for art. Surrounded by the creative and liberal culture of Western Massachusetts, art became an almost immediate part of Nick’s life. From drawing and pottery lessons as a young kid to summer art camps and programs, he took advantage of any and all classes and exposures he could. This compulsion provided Nick with environments to explore a range of mediums, including animation, photography, film, painting, ceramics, and sculpture, before he thought about high school. By the time he did graduate, Nick was receiving honors for his excellence in achievements in the arts.
Nick carried his learning and practice of the arts through his academic career at Wheaton College, developing a minor in studio art along side his psychology major, focusing on graphic and 3D design/sculpture. Through his small Liberal Arts school, Nick had the opportunity to take a semester abroad, studying at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. It was during his time in Europe that Nick realized the power of street art and its connection to the structured graphic design he had studied. Inspired by some of the local graffiti, including mainstream artists like Banksy, Nick took spray paint to his own designs, finding a real skill and passion in stenciling.
Most recently, Nick completed an intensive course in graphic design and brand identity at the Rhode Island School of Design where he learned skills he is now transferring as far as local politics. Nick’s hope is to further his arts education, both formally and through his own personal development, in order to pursue more creative career opportunities utilizing these skills. Currently he is working on personal projects and commissioned work for individual collectors.
